Nestled on Sandyford Road in Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne, Cog and Wheel is a vibrant bar and grill that has quickly become a local favorite. Known for its enticing menu, diners indulge in signature offerings like the "Brat Out of Hell," a delectable bratwurst topped with homemade beef chili and mozzarella, or the "Grand Scranyon," a hearty double beef patty burger that promises satisfaction for meat lovers. Among its highlights, the Sunday Roast stands out—not only praised by patrons like Adrian Stimson for its taste but also recognized for its remarkable vegetarian option, a refreshing departure from the typical nut roast. Karina Sorrels describes the atmosphere as welcoming, appealing to students and locals alike, while Molly Aspden lauds the bottomless brunch as a must-try social event. With attentive yet relaxed service, Cog and Wheel creates an inviting space where patrons can unwind with outstanding cocktails and satisfying dishes. If you’re in the mood for a fun dining experience with friends, this spot is certainly worth the visit. Be sure to arrive early for a table, especially on busy nights—this lively venue is always in high demand!

A lovely little place between Jesmond, Heaton and the City Centre - mainly student focused but a variety of clientele and a well priced Sunday Roast menu (from 1 to 3 courses).

Best bottomless brunch ever!!! Seeing some old friends after a long time and Oliver and Craig were so welcoming. The food was delicious and the drinks were great and flowing. I will definitely be back next time I’m in Newcastle. If you’re wanting to book DONT HESITATE

Such a lovely place to sit. There aren’t always seats, it is probably better to go around 6-8 for a table. Around 9:30 it is fairly busy during term time! Other than that it’s a lovely spot for a couple of drinks. AMAZING DEALS FOR COCKTAILS!

Went for Sunday lunch this week and it was absolutely incredible. Best vegetarian Sunday lunch I've had in a restaurant. Me and my friend are both veggie and although we agree sausages were a bit of a surprise choice, it's so nice to have something that isn't nut roast! As for the service, very attentive but also relaxed and laid back. All in all, a great experience. Can't recommend this place enough!

What a fantastic little venue off the main road. Has a fantastic vibe and a great decor. Staff are super friendly and accommodating to your every need. Good selection of drinks from beers to cocktail to spirits. And the menu is quite cool with some great options regular stuff you would see elsewhere as well as their own specialities, food tasted great and can recommend the chips with the cog dust.

Classic Cog & Wheel was absolutely filling and tasty for the price of 9.50. I will definitely get this again if I come back. Dead man's Daiquiri was also a refreshing fruity drink (8.30)to complement the meal. My friend ordered Fish & Chips, I took a small bite and found it flavourful unlike most places. So I highly recommend this place as it is a real value for money.
